Places to Visit in Sığacık

Notes from Boii

Travel Guide5 min read

When people see Sığacık for the first time, their eyes usually fixate on one thing: either a bougainvillea branch, a stone street, or olive trees swaying in the wind.

In Boii's world, this is not a place for fast living.

And it shouldn't be.

When you come to Sığacık, you shouldn't have a to-do list, but an intention to feel.

Still, when you leave Boii, there are some stops you can reach on foot or by bicycle that will slightly surprise you and make you pause.

Here are what we think are not "places to visit" but places to pause:

1. 🏰 Sığacık Castle and Castle Streets

This place doesn't change every day, but it looks different every day.

While wandering among stone walls, don't look at shop signs, but at the ivy on the walls, the tulle curtains hanging from balconies.

In the castle, you don't need a map to get lost, just some free time.

2. 🧺 Sunday Sığacık Market

This is not an "organic market".

This is real.

Homemade artichokes, black mulberry jams, aunties making gözleme, handmade ceramics...

If you happen to be at the market, cancel your plans.

Because an Aegean cheesemaker at the market will already ruin that plan.

3. ⛵ Ancient Teos

Sığacık is not just a holiday destination, it's a civilization area.

Teos is like a 2600-year-old whisper: it doesn't shout much but tells if you listen.

If you're there at sunset in the evening, find Umay Nine.

If possible, be quiet.

Let those branches speak.

4. 🌊 Akkum Beach & Coves

Sığacık center is walkable but for the sea, you need a few minutes of movement.

Akkum Beach is regular, clean, and shallow.

But we recommend a quieter cove.

Don't ask for directions. Go and follow the wind that says "we're here" on the way.

(Hint: Talk to fishermen who do boat tours.)

5. 🍷 Vineyards and Sunset Points

When you go a little outside Sığacık, vineyard houses begin.

Some work by reservation, some spontaneously.

But drinking Aegean wine at a vineyard house at sunset leaves a slight smile on your face when returning to Boii's rooms.

And isn't that the summary of everything?

🌿 A Little Advice from Boii:

Sığacık is not explored with a travel list, but with an intention.

That intention: to slow down, to feel, to enjoy.

Go out after breakfast, don't have a return time.

Let yourself find yourself walking towards wherever you want to go next as soon as you leave Boii.
